A Must for Working Woman: Mary Kay Custom Compact

I'm always sold whenever I see a compact that's completely filled with everything I need on my face, and it doesn't matter whether they're expensive or not as long as the color palette inside it were from my favorite shades and hues. If a certain compact is filled with just eye and cheek colors, I might give it a second thought since I always want it to come with a lip color. If it has it, then there goes my hard earned money.

For years I've had 5 travel palettes and I love them. Every time I get busy with school and work I always reach for easy to bring compacts that carries all the essentials. I'm not a travel junkie until I reached my late 20's, and now my need for a sleek all in one compact has become inevitable. I need a purse-friendly palette that shouldn't be bigger than the my hands. Christian Dior Travel Kit is the bomb alright, coz it's Dior, but it's too big to be travel friendly for me plus the shades weren't really my type. Yes I'm a fan of colorful and creative eye shadows but not for my everyday use, or work-appropriate. It's my least favorite, except it has the Dior show mascara.
The makeup palette that made me dream of having another one, and the better one.
This limited edition Christian Dior Travel Studio Kit has everything!
Unfortunately I really don't dig the eye and lip colors.
Finally, the compact that I've been eyeing on since 2011 is now in front of me, and I would like to share with you how happy I am! It's actually expensive so it took years for me to have the guts to purchase it, I should thank myself for being Mary Kay's beauty consultant. I paid it for half of its original price.

It's so sleek and everything that I need in my daily busy life is here in one small magnetic compact. No more lipstick falling out from my makeup bag, or too many single eye shadow pots that I couldn't even put together, and no more makeup brushes with long handles that are also complicated to bring with me. You can choose from three empty again I repeat EMPTY magnetic palettes, a smaller one that can fit three eye colors, one cheek color and applicators. everything that's inside it were sold separately, and if you fill it with the eye shadow and cheek color of your choice plus brushes and your fave lippie, it'll cost 3,085 pesos.. a little less expensive than Dior Travel Kit. Later I'll give you an idea on how each of them costs.
There are three available empty compacts and I chose the small one that has a room for a lipstick. A space for a lippie? Definitely yes, it made me weak! Since I have the chance to customize everything, I get too excited to build my very own compact.
For the choice of eye colors/palettes this one is the bloodiest. It has to be three and one eye color costs 330 pesos already. Multiply it by three and it's already 990 pesos. There's another available one that costs 700 pesos and holds 4 eye shadow palette but the gold/bronze hues that I want isn't available. The shades I picked were Gold Cost which is a pale gold color that can also act as a highlighter, Amber Blaze which is an orangey gold color and French toast which is a bronze-taupe color. They're all shimmery neutrals and very pigmented.
For my cheek color it has to be my holy grail mineral blush from Mary Kay, and the shade's name's Shy. It's actually the prettiest blush powder I've owned. Labeled as a dupe for the cult's fave and best selling blush of all time Orgasm blush by Nars, it's a gorgeous pinky peach cheek powder blush with golden sheen to it. It gives a natiural looking flush then the gold shimmer acts as illuminator/highlighter for your cheek bones. A big plus is that it's a universal flatterer.

Swatches of the mineral eye colors, cheek color and the true dimensions lipstick.
My brain splits into two as I tried to decide whether to get the True Dimensions lipstick in silver tube (850 pesos) or the signature lipstick in black tube (750 pesos). When my sales director told me that True Dimensions Lipstick helps to plump up the lips and cure cracks and wrinkles, I was sold.
I chose Magenta.Chill. and to my dismay it's too glossy.. I'm not a fan of shimmery glossy glittery lips so I might replace this one soon, however it's a beautiful lip color that smells like a certain flower. Not a rose exactly, there's a strong floral note and a bit overwhelming for me. One thing that it's helpful was when I rode the bus with my husband and I cringe upon smelling the air freshener. I put the lippie on and I kept on smelling it the whole trip. Yes you got it right I need to pout so my upper lip will touch the tip of my nose!

The brush applicators were pretty decent yet they're not synthetic animal hair. For 50 pesos and 80 pesos they''re not a bad catch at all. Besides they all fit perfectly on the space provided for either brushes or more makeups.

When sold separately this is how it all looks like, and this is how you begin putting them together. They're all secured in a thick plastic casing, though if you prefer to just buy them alone without the magnetic palette they're not fall-proof and breakage-proof... Just like what happened to my first mineral Shy blush.

Prices:
Mary Kay Custom Compact (unfilled) - 695 pesos
Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color - 330 pesos each
Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color - 420 each
Mary Kay Brush Applicator for eyes - 50 pesos
Mary Kay Brush Applicator for cheeks - 80 pesos
Mary Kay True Dimensions Lipstick - 850 pesos

Here's my MOTD using the eye & cheek colors plus the glossy true dimensions lippie. It look good though and i love it. On my face I used Mary Kay Time Wise Matte Foundation in Beige 02 mixed with Naturactor Coverface Foundartion in 150, the I used the rest of the colors inside the palette.

You can buy these at beautybymarykay and if you've been linked to this online store through my blog you can avail a 5% discount to each product.

What I didn't expect is my Mac bullet just perfectly fits it! Look! It won't even fall off!

I hope y'all liked this post and little review about Mary Kay's Custom Palette. It's definitely a working woman/busy woman must have since it carries everything and very handy. Now that I'm too busy with work and other sidelines plus unexpected travels and sleep overs, this is all I need. Now I need to buy a new Mac lipstick coz I need another new lippie of good quality since I always talk to clients and I always hang out with my team mates and bosses. That lippie sitting there is none other than Mac Flamingo lipstick.
Have to go now ladies! This weekend's going to be really busy once again, please wait for more blog post! Ciao~!

Gold Love + MOTDs

My addiction and obssession over something seems like a recurring process for me. Though I'm fickle minded I know most of the things that I like seems connected to each other, or they seem to have something in common.

It was 2007 when I started lusting over anything with gold in it. Makeups, earrings, shoes, bags, everything.. As long as there's gold in it I'll surely love it. I've bought a gold cream lipstick from Elizabeth Arden, metallic gold lipstick from in2it, metallic gold lipstick from Mary Kay, Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss that's also glossy gold (I forgot the shade's name)and then there's Herbench Paintbox eyeshadow duo in bronze and gold that I used to pair with Mac Gliss lipstick (perfect pair! plus JErgen's soft shimmer lotion) and I used to have a glitter cream eyeshadow from Avon that I used to wear almost everyday. Sad thing about all these gleaming items I've mentioned is that they're all discontinued now. Young me feels Cleopatra-ish and I love my eyelids with micro gold glitters on them. The King Midas fever in me lasted for 2 years and I was even so thrilled when Avon released 24k Gold lipstick collection and I even bought 3! Shades I went for were natural gold, 24k pink and my favorite golden peach. What I don't understand is that why on earth these cosmetics company discontinued every products I've mentioned. Even the very latest Maybelline Eyestudio Diamond Eyeshadow that I love so much is gone forever as well. I'm currently in search for perfect replacement for those, and still willing to buy if they'll all be recreated and manufactured again.

Fortunately and unpredictably, my special affinity to sparkly things and gold hues have resurrected. The addiction has been reborn and stronger and stranger than ever! Suddenly I have so many gold and glittery eyeshadows once again in my makeup traincase, all bought and received just last April.

Kiss Me Heroine Make Eye Jewelries from Japan. P595. I already did a review for it and just when I thought I'll be using Yellow Sapphire more, it turned out that I'll be frequently reaching for Pink Amethyst coz I'm currently addicted to its pale gold shade which I use for strobing. I want a beautiful highlighter/strobe powder so bad but I still haven't met my dream highlighter. So far, the pale golden eyeshadow powder from the Pink Amethyst paltte gives me an amazing glow and It's now my improvised highlighter and strobe powder. During lazy days I reach for Yellow Sapphire to give my eyelids a touch of very fine glitters and it easily brightens my eyes, but lazy days were a rare occurence for a makeup addict like me. I always top it off or mix with several eyeshadows.

The Face Shop Color Me Lovely Me: Ex Glitter Eyeshadow in Sand Dune from South Korea. P195 I bought it at The Face Shop store in Glorietta. It's also more of a cream/mousse type than powdery and glides on my eyelids like a dream. The specks of glitters were bigger than Kiss Me Heroine Make's Eye Jewelries, and the explosion of glitters were more intense. When photos were taken with flash the glitters were pretty obvious I use it when I want more emphasis on my eyes or I feel like I'm Tinkerbell, as the glitters were too fabulous and disco-ball like for daytime wear.

Mac Eyeshadow in Tempting from Canada. It's actually a Canadian brand but came from my best friend from Singapore. I was thinking of getting Woodwinked again but I've decided to try another shade that's more taupe-like. It looks great on its own but I love pairing it with Makeup Geek's Badabing or with my Sugar Skull Cosmetics 88 Metal Palette. Without an eye base, it creates a sheer wash of color on eyelids that is still pigmented (since it's Mac after all) and when used under a primer/eyebase the pigmentation's so intense. Best paired with any shade that belongs to the brown, orange and bronze family

Now I would like to share with you two fresh, glittery MOTD that I did for two consecutive days. By the way I'm not really that flawless but the flash made my skin smoother than usual. (I sooo love my Samsung Grand Prime!)

MOTD 1 is more on fresh, au naturel look but shimmery.

My addiction to it won't fade for sure. More gold products I'm currently eyeing on: Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal in Gold and Nyx Cream Stick in 24 Karats. Glad to know that they're cheap and I hope I can purchase them soon.

My thoughts on Strobing: it's just highlighting, minus contouring. I'm not really a fan of contouring since the bony parts of my face were too prominent now, plus it makes my facial features sharper than ever. Though it doesn't work that well on me I love seeing beautiful and talented muas on Instagram with their contouring on point. I look different in person and even in pictures so I just do light contouring with a darker powder. Horaay to the strobing trend, I'll be doing it til I ran out of strobe powders.

How about you my lovely readers? What's your favorite eyeshadow shade? Is there an addiction/obsession that has died down and suddenly you want to be addicted once again to it? Aside from this gold thingy my old flame Hello Kitty' catching my attention again, yet I'm still thinking about it coz I have a son now, I don't think seeing him play with my kitties will be a good idea.

So long my pretty readers! Thanks for visiting my blog! Seeing the blog hits of more than 400,000 makes my heart flutter! when i started I was pretty sure no one will even read my blog, but now I've got tons of readers! Thanks to all of you! Ciao Ciao!

Kim Kardashian Inspired Look: Warm Tones and Apricot Lips

It's my birthday once again and I suddenly have this urge to recreate another Kim Kardashian Inspired Makeup just like what I did last year. This time I'm sticking to my signature and favorite colors and I actually haven't seen any mua or guru replicating this look. Not only that I'm a big Kardashian/Jenner family fan but what I'm actually rooting for and so inspired about is that most of their makeup looks were done by my favorite makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. J.lo started this neutral glowy bronzed skin and Mario has replicated it so well with a twist of his own creativity and skills, doing a perfectly flawless makeup for his celebrity clients. Now the trend for neutrals, smokey browns and warm coppery eyes have been grazing Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr as most muas have been doing neutrals and no makeup makeup, plus the major contouring trend. In my part I still need to learn more and soon I'll be practicing and painting my friends' face and I'm excited to share it with you.

My take using Canon DLSR. In my honest opinion, I prefer using the back camera of my Samsung with flash on coz the true colors of my eyeshadow and lipstick really shows. I've had several pictures taken with DSLR and it didn't do any justice for my MOTD. I couldn't see the vibrant colors on my eyes and lips, but then my cheeks were flushing perfectly. Later I'll show you one photo taken using my cellphone.
This is my all time favorite makeup look from Kim and it's very much similar to the makeup look I did on my wedding day. It flatters any skin tone and since most colors were from brown and orange family, it doesn't look too much and it can create a sultry glow.. I saw the same makeup look during an interview with local celebs Maxene Magalona and Ellen Adarna having an interview with Tim Yap prior to my wedding in 2013, that's why it became an option for my bridal makeup.
picture taken using my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime front camera

The MOTD's a combination of warm tones from my Sugar Skull Cosmetics Palette and to achieve this look I really have to contour a lot and warm up my skin with bronzers and peach blush. Since I'm not into sharp contouring I just used a darker powder instead of a darker cream concealer. I have layers and layers of eyeshadows mixed in together just to create the right color I saw on Kim. On my lips I even dabbed it with the same blush powder I used on my cheeks. Unfortunately if you can see the current situation of my Mac powder blush, your heart will definitely break. Mine did, when my son threw it up in the air and had an epic smash on the solid ground.

Using my cellphone's back camera with flash on, here's one good shot: pores and flaws visible.
Since Kim Kardashian's skintone is far different than mine, I didn't look so glowy and peachy and I already think my face looks too dark for using a lot of bronzer. Just a natural looking flush will do, and I also didn't use thick false eyelashes coz my eyes were already small, it'll automatically block my eyesight if my lashes were heavy. Overall, I'm in love with this makeup look, and it's something that I would wear everyday. I love how healthy I looked in pictures and makeups can really fake everything. Can you even tell that I'm anemic?
Thanks for reading lovelies and I hope y'all liked my MOTD. I'm thinking of more makeup inspirations and theme makeups and a little, just a little product review. Ciao~!

A Coachella Themed Party

It's a deep sigh that we don't have much festivals here during summer compared to what they have in there in America, and I'm also talking about the infamous Coachella that I've been dying to experience since I'm a concert/music festival lover. My cousin Atta told me there's a counterpart here in the Philippines called Wanderland, and we're still planning if we're gonna attend next year or not. Though the plan isn't that concrete yet, I had fun just tying a simple laid back Californian vibe when my bestfriend's younger sister had her 18th birthday Coachella style. Actually, I was the one who suggested it since they're aiming for a pool party. Most of my bestfriend's cousins were girls so it'll be nice to see flower headbands gracing their heads. It was just a simple celebration that became cuter since we're all game for a bohemian style.
Here's me on my way to the party surrounded by Jessa's balloons. I love this shot taken from the front camera of my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime.

What I'm wearing that day is a boho inspired off the shoulder floral cropped top from Cotton On and I got it as gift from my bestfriend. It actually shows too much skin, the back part's open and the flowy lower part exposes my belly. I love it since it was hot that day my outfit made me feel more comfy. I just paired it with jeans since I think wearing it with mini skirt or short shorts is too much for a birthday party. Maybe if I'm in Boracay I'll pair it with super micro minis and all. Every girl in the party got flower headbands too. Mine's from Forever 21 and I picked it since it matches the flowers on my cropped floral top.
I also did the hair and makeup of the debutant. Jessa's like my younger sister, as I've seen her since she was less than a year old. My concept for her look is fresh, youthful and glowing. I used neutral colors for her eyes and soft curls for her hair. To perfect the bohemian/coachella girl style I finished off her hairstyle with of course a flower headband.
Makeover! I did my bestfriend's hair and makeup, and also my other friend Karen's soft glam look.
That day I also get to spend time and hang out with my high school friends. It's like we never get old and we're still as crazy as the old times. Laughter never ends and rude mouths filled the room where were staying in.

For my MOTD I chose most of the products from Mary Kay. I'm proud to tell everyone that I'm now an independent beauty consultant and soon I'll be attending several seminars and trainings related to skin care, colors and business and I've accepted a business opportunity. I'm so excited about it and it's making me really busy.

Here are my selfies and my skin's really glowing, and I was even told my skin's so flawless that day. With the right combination of Mary Kay products here's the result.

The night before I used the Timewise Miracle 3 in 1 cleanser, used the sample pack of Microdermabrasion set and finished it off with the Age defying moisturizer.

For my MOTD, here's the list of products I used:
