Grunge Makeup Look Using Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams

Hi there lovelies! I'm keeping my promise from my previous post and today I'll be sharing with you my grunge makeup look using Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams in Copenhagen and Transylvania. See, it didn't take that long. I just finished my blog post that has swatches, reviews and MOTDs using these two here. I'm also thankful that my son's feeling better now, I just need to make sure he's eating well these days since he lost some weight.

Grunge has been considered as one of those extreme makeup looks not for faint of heart, but since I'm a risk-taker when it comes to makeups, I even paired my dark lips with a dark eyeshadow, winged cat eyes, contouring and strobing. I tried to incorporate all the latest makeup trend these days and tried to see if it'll work on me, or if my skills were mad enough to create it.

My makeup look might be 90's grunge inspired, but not with my top or my hair, I'm not a big fan of plaids so I don't have any on my wardrobe. I guess I'll just stick with my favorite color so basically my ootd is just a black top sans the infamous 90's tattoo like choker.

Using some of my new makeups, my makeup game has become more fun and thrilling. I had a little addiction to strobing thanks to my new Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade from my friend and makeup buddy Sheena. Those finely milled pigments made me I applied this baby three times on my cheek bones, brow bones and cupids bow using a fan brush. Can't really get enough of it! I honestly had a hard time contouring the hollows of my cheeks coz I'm not used to it and I think it's too strong/harsh for my face. I even go easy on doing my nose line these days. If I were to choose between strobing or contouring, I'll pick strobing.

By the way, my pictures were taken by my young cousin (she's only 14 and she's no pro) so please excuse the lighting as some were dark and some were too bright. Again she's no pro and didn't take any lessons or trainings with photography but soon she'll be one badass photographer. :) Coz she wants to. Let me be her lab rat slash subject slash model.

For my eyeshadow it's just the combination of coppery bronze, cranberry and a warmer brown. The combination of these three added a good transition and dimension on my eyelids. It's like it's not too smokey or overwhelming, plus it was enhanced by a matte black eyeshadow and black eyeliner. Brows were set with a pencil liner, and gel liner used as a brow pomade then filled with brow shadow. Contouring + strobing/highlightling + blush for cheeks then the ombre lips where I used the dark purple lip cream on the outer corner then the mulberry shade lipcream on the center.

Makeups I used for this specific look. Yep, tons of it!

I'm in love with the combination of Transylvania and Copenhagen. I really think I'll wear this ombre lips more often, and this is actually my first take for this latest lip trend. I was inspired by my fave Kat Von D on how she always pulls of ombre lips with her own lipstick line perfectly.

Aside from this fab portrait shoot I had an opportunity to have a backyard photo shoot with my little Draven. He's bugging us the whole time and he keeps on laughing for no reason on our pictures. It turned out great though. My little boy's goofiness and cleverness really came from his Daddy.

Sharing with you some cutesy photos. I love all of it. So candid yet sweet.

Sigh. Being a mommy is the hardest possible task, but look at the perks of it. This little boy drives me nuts. Sometime he makes me really mad at his antics and tantrums (hallmark of being a toddler) but just his smile and giggles can easily melt my heart.

Hearing his soft little voice calling me "Mommy" is such an exceptional, heart-fluttering feeling. You'll never really know how it feels like until you become a mother. Anyways, my next goal is to make this little naughty hyper boy gain weight, coz after suffering from fever, sore throat and mouth sores he didn't eat well or drink his milk for almost 3 days. But look at him looking oh so healthy in pictures and playful.

After writing this blog post and sorting the pictures, I realized DSLR s*cks really bad and I should just stick with my cellphone's camera. The first ever pic of this post happens to be taken from my fone, but it's the best shot I guess. No more DSLR for me.

I hope y'all liked my grunge-y MOTD plus Mommy-baby moments! More makeup reviews and MOTD next month!

Ciao for now! :)

Vampy Lips Must Have! NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Copenhagen and Transylvania

Hello everyone! Have you tried NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams? Well I do, and I never thought I would love it. At first I thought it was overrated, then I've seen beautiful FOTDs wearing them on their lips. Now that I've tried it and have my own, I can't wait to share with you my experience, and I'm afraid I won't be using my lipsticks anymore, and soon I'll be buying all the possible shades coz they're perfect to use for my clients. I have a big wedding gig this year and I'm so excited to get all the shades and try it on different people with different skin tones.

Let's go on to my two favorite purchase early this year. I know fall season's over, but I don't really care to rock dark vampy lips all year round. Most people don't like it, or let's say don't have guts to wear it especially around daytime, or  when it's too early in the morning. Not for me, I care less about what others will think, and maybe if I see someone wearing dark lips like I do, I will definitely think they're pretty cool, coz it's not everyday that you see crazy people like me.

NYX lip creams were described as a straddle between lipstick and lipgloss but more on a matte finish, buttery, and deliciously scented in vanilla. Just like its name, it's really soft on lips without tightness/stickiness. It dries slower than L.A. Girl's Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss and not rub proof, coz if you eat with it or drink with it it'll surely fade, but it's transfer-proof and smear proof once on lips. If you hate seeing your glass, straw or cup with your lipstick mark, then you should give these lip creams a try.

First lip cream 've got is Copenhagen. NYX's bestseller and always a Fall-must have, and usually sold-out.
It's a dark red with a touch of mulberry. If you applied it thickly it'll almost have a black finish with a red base/ red tinge. Very vampy and reminds me of those lips I used to imitate during the Twilight/True Blood/The Vampire Diaries craze. It my second everyday lip color next to peachy pinks.

I use it when I don't want to exert much effort on glamming myself up early in the morning just to look ok, and with my new work wearing a black uniform, it rocks my plain outfit. I originally bought this and Transylvania to pair with my almost Magenta Red/Burgundy red hair last month, but since I was a Winter Camp teacher for a month for Korean students I avoided using it, coz my students were already distracted with my red hair. What more if I pair it with dark lips?. hohohoho. :') Though they love my bright red hair and they don't usually see it inside their classroom/not a normal thing, my mere presence was already distracting them in the middle of the class and they play/ask a lot of questions about my hair.

Now here's my fave shot just using the camera of my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime.

Second lipstick that I so love to wear but it definitely attracts too much attention is Transylvania. From the shade's name itself, it'll remind you of Count Dracula. It's more on the dark purple side, like an eggplant, and when applied too much it gives a result of black lips with a purple base/purple tinge. It'll somehow remind you of Mavis Dracula's lips.

It looks good on people with fair and pale complexion especially if you're aiming for some goth vibe. For those with darker skintone then just think of how Rihanna perfectly pulls off black lipsticks.

Wear it on your lips when you're wearing a corset and you're now a Victorian Goth, or wear it with your all black street wear and you'll easily achieve the Street Goth fash.

My work MOTD using Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania:

They're often bought in pairs and here's the swatches:

For a grunge look, try to do an ombre lip with the combination of these two lippies. Transylvania applied on corners and Copenhagen on the center. (will try that and do a blog post soon). As much as I want to do a full makeup today I don't have time coz my baby's not feeling well. Mommy duties first.

You can purchase these cool lippies at Sweet Frostings Cosmetics.

More makeups to be reviewed soon!

What To Do With Your Yellow Cab Ice Cream Can

My highschool friends, my husband and I had a dinner together at Yellow Cab Dasmarinas.
Well, the last time we ate out it was January of 2013, and that's more than a year ago!
For the first time I also met my best friend's older brother, Kuya Lee Carl.

I also had a chance to bond more with my husband since he didn't go to work that day.
Baby's left with my mom. We had fun at the dining table, hubby's cracking funny jokes.

Then there's these 3 ice cream with different flavors for dessert. Pistachio. chocolate and vanilla. Pistachio's weird!! it tastes like max cherry candy. Yellow Cab Ice creams were famous not for it's taste I guess, but it's coz of its can. You'll definitely have that urge to keep it after finishing and satisfying your sweet tooth. Once again, I'm not into sweet food, so it was just ok for me. Mcdonald's sundae is still the best.

After pigging out, I wanted one of those cans coz I can use it for something.
When I got home, mom washed it, then it became like this:

It's a very good holder for my Mac bullets and other lippies! I can easily see what to use and what to pick. It can hold 12 lippies, or if it's all Mac maybe it can hold up to 13 Mac bullets.

What's inside:
Nyx Black Label Lipstick in India
Nyx Round Lipstick in Narcissus
Etude House Lipstick in OR204
Mac Heatherette Lipstick in Hollywood Nights
Mac Hello Kitty Lipstick in Most Popular
Mac Hello Kitty Lipstick in Big Bow
Mac Lipstick in Pink Nouveau
Mac Lipstick in Russian Red
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude
Avon Moisturizing Lipstick in Island Glow
Avon Lipstick in Divine Wine
Nichido High Definition Lipstick in Pretty Tulip

These lippies were just 3% of the total population of my lip products. The rest, I still don't know where to keep them. I guess I need one more to hold up my fave lipglosses.

**UPDATE**

After 2 years, I finally recovered my Instagram password and username!! I'll post more pictures about makeups and more soon, I'm just so busy these days. Follow follow!!

For some latest post maybe regarding makeups or what I do, you can follow me on twitter :)

What's In My Makeup Bag?

You have no idea how many eyeshadows, powders, brushes, lippies and mirrors I carry with me. When I was in highschool and college my pen's always missing, but my eyeliners were always complete, and never misplaced. Sometimes I even forget my notes at home,
but my book of eyeshadow palettes were never forgotten...

Makeup Kit last 2010

1.Avon Supershock mascara in black
2. Revlon eyelash curler
3. Estee Lauder eyeliner
4. eyebrow brush
5. lipbrush from Tinte cosmetics
6.Elf smudge brush
7. Barenaturals flat top brush
8. Tinte Cosmetics Matchbook in Natural Beauty
9. The Face Shop Cream Foundation
10. Lancome ColorFocus Self Select eyeshadow quad
11. that pie looking eyeshadow that I couldn't remember the brand

I used to love that Matchbook from Tinte Cosmetics in Natural Beauty that I bought at Beauty Bar for P1,600 pesos only and the Lancome Color Focus Self Select eyeshadow quad from my bezzie.

More makeups that I alternately use before, some were prizes from Maybelline and L'oreal
when I won for Hair in Manila's contest last 2010.

When I was working my makeup kit has doubled. Sometimes I carry everything I can,
coz whenever I have free time I put makeup on, take a selfie and blog.

It's my office table way back 2012. That flowery tangerine makeup bag's from Clinique,
and was given by my aunt who gave the same Louis Vuitton's Spring 2002 Collection White Multicolour/Murakami Monogram Speedy 30 bag. I told everyone in the office that the bag's fake every time they ask me if it's authentic. I don't want to overwhelm them like why I use such thing and I seldom use it. But it isn't. It's actually the original LV Speedy 30.

Aunt bought it before the knockoffs were sold in the market. I'm still thankful she gave it to me, of all the people that she knew. The first time that I saw this bag, I think I was in highschool. I don't care much about LV that time. Seeing it again, it didn't look old, and it's more than 10 years old.
What's more important than that bag was the piece of advice she gave me and it really did change some of my plans in life, love and career. Aunt currently resides in California.
I just see her once every 2 years, or twice a year.

Another office table shot! Yes I do share my makeups with my office mates.I even received gifts from them. That Chanel kit was given by Ate Janice, my friend who used to work with Elizabeth Arden at Duty Free Cosmetics aisle. There's more that wasn't even reached by my cam.You have no idea.

Now that I'm preggo I've decided to minimize everything! I only carry the important ones, but they still seem plenty for a small purse.

Purse from: Marithe Francois Girbaud

What's inside my purse?

1. Revlon Eyelash curler
2. Victoria's Secret Dream Angels miniature perfume
3. Clinique eyeshadow and blush quad
4. Mac Heatherette Compact replaced with a dual powder foundation
5. Maybelline Clearsmooth Mineral Blush in Original rose
6. Etude House Shini Star Lipbalm in Guava
7. L'oreal Hip Eyeshadow brush
8. Elf Stippling brush
9. Barenaturals Flat Top brush
10. Kirkland Borghease Eyebrow brush
11. Jazzy Collection Cream Foundation
12. Johnson's baby lotion
13. Nyx Lipstick in Dusty Rose

I even customized my own palette that I can easily carry around, travelling, sleepovers at my father in law's house, anywhere.I depotted neutral eyeshadows and a few pink and peach blushes. Some were from my Kirkland Borghease palette, Sugar Skull Cosmetics 88 Earth Palette, and single eyeshadows that I got from the past.

When I was still a student nurse all the essential things for the patient should be at bedside.
Well, my bedside's like this at the moment, a few weeks from now it'll be different
and all my makeup stash will be there. ^_^ I feel sorry for my husband.

The scent that I'm loving at the moment: Heiress.I've been sniffing this scent from my bestfriend for years and years but I don't like it that much. Now my pregnant brain told my
olfactory nerve that this one's the best, aside from Purr by Katy Perry.

By the way go and check it out! I'm lovin' these accessories from Sweet Frostings.
