Music meets Fashion

I must admit that I'm the worst dresser ever. I don't follow the trend and sometimes I have a bad taste when it comes to mixing and matching my clothes. It's not that I don't want to dress up, but being dressed up is too difficult for me. When it comes to makeup, there's no boundaries and being simple is never in my makeup vocabulary, but putting up a good pair of a top and bottom, I'm officially challenged.

Most of my friends and most people that I know are fashion conscious and brand conscious. Unlike makeup, dressing up and looking good in a particular shirt depends on how people carry themselves, and how it looks on them.No matter how many moolahs you shell out it won't suit someone who looks like a derp. ^^

Not all people looks good in Chanel, Balmain or whatsoever brand you can nameand think of. Sometimes, dressing up must also follow the norms, and don't forget your country's weather.

My motherland, Philippines is a beautiful tropical country made up of wonderful beaches, trees and mountains. Most Western and European style of clothing is a big NO NO.
You'll just end up suffering and sweating to death.

Sometimes I see funny people at the mall or public vehicles, wearing something that makes me want to kill myself. Totally overdressed. Too much cleavage. Suffocating their boobies.
Confidence, ultra mini skirts and shorts, and a bunch of cellulite. Men wearing jackets on a hot sunny day. Women wearing almost nothing on a cold, rainy day.

Wearing something extravagant, or daring should be worn only if you have a nice, fancy wheels. If you will just ride a public transportation, then you're just making fun of yourself. Besides, it's really so uncomfortable dressing up then at the same time commuting. we're not even lucky to have buses and mrts as clean and as beautiful as what they have in Singapore and South Korea.

Seeing stylish and rich kids who can buy almost anything and match everything together,
I'm now wondering about my fashion sense and my taste in clothing. I will post some style and fashion inspiration in which I see myself wearing more often in a simplified way, and some in which I'm wishing to wear and pull off in the future. It doesn't matter if they're cheap with no designer's name on them.

Unlike fancy, sexy and ultra glamorous clothes, I love gender bender, androgynous types of clothing. It's edgier and more unique than any other style.Sometimes I borrow my bro's tops.
Most of his tops are really good, and we even share the same taste of style.

Now here are my fashion preferences and my favorite style. These are basically genres of music that influenced people. I'm not a rock star though, but I do love music of any sort, types and origin.

THE GLAM ROCK FASHION

Spandex, studs, leopard prints platform shoes and more androgynous clothing. Think of 80's and 90's bands like Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Poison and their outrageous glittery and somewhat girlie clothes worn by men. I'm actually obsessed with leather jackets and leopard prints. Though the climate here doesn't call for a leather jacket and boots, I've tried to wear them on several occasions. I also love alternative type of t-shirts with band names on it. Glam rock fashion always rocks the runways. Scene is also associated with Glam Rock.

modern glam rock looks I love

Please take a time to read my blog post about The Evolution of Glam Rock Fashion blog post here at Rebelsmarket .

THE PUNK ROCK FASHION

Studs, spikes, mohawks and incoporated of Biker chick look were the elements of Glam Punk. It usually crosses over to the elements of Glam rock and Street Goth fashion. Don't forget the ripped pants, boyish clothes once again, and the infamous The Misfits tee.

Sometimes sexiness is not all about feminine, revealing clothes and vaporous or luxurious fabrics, sexiness can also be underlined through individuality as well; individuality, uniqueness are a magnet when it comes to capturing attention and being unique or different can be a great thing when it comes to fashion and style.
Glam Goth

"Goth in its simplest form, is a subculture. A group of people who feel comfortable within each others company.  There is no specific thing that defines what you need to do or be to fit into the goth scene  (except of course the implied black clothing). People in the goth scene all have different musical tastes, follow different religions, have different occupations, hobbies, and fashion sense." - goth.net

However, I'm in love with it's glamorous movement, the Glam Goth Subculture.
Aside from black as the prominet color, they might add velvet and other colors likered and purple. They might wear black lace and chiffon type of fabrics. Spikes can be added to their wardrobe and instead of typicla goth black lipstick, females prefer purplish red or deep plums for their lip colors. Adding sparkles is one of its main elements hence it's called Glam Goth.

Next,
The genre that I'm wishing to pull off perfectly someday:
Rockabilly/Pin Up
Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music,
dating to the early 1950s.
The term "rockabilly" is a portmanteau of "rock" (from "rock 'n' roll")
and "hillbilly", the latter a reference to the country music
(often called "hillbilly music" in the 1940s and 1950s)
that contributed strongly to the style's development.
Other important influences on rockabilly

 While there are notable exceptions,
its origins lie primarily in the Southern United States.
The influence and popularity of the style waned in the 1960s,
but during the late 1970s and early 1980s,
rockabilly enjoyed a major revival of popularity
that has endured to the present, often within a rockabilly subculture. - wikipedia

I love it and it's really classy.
Women's tops consist of polka dots and cherry prints,
just like what you usually see from a Lucky Strike Cigar ad.
Red flower, red lips, red nails and red peep toes are a must.
Don't forget the epic hairstyles

 more rockabilly

Rockabilly is almost similar to Pin up/ Burlesque and is always
associated with retro.
Don't forget the leopard prints!!

The Glamorous Icon and Patron Saint of Pin Up/Rockabilly
who started it all:
Marilyn Monroe

Then there is Psychobilly too!!
and according to my dear friend wiki:

Psychobilly is a fusion genre of rock music
that mixes elements of punk rock, rockabilly,  and other genres.
It is one of several subgenres of rockabilly which also include
thrashabilly,  punkabilly, surfabilly and gothabilly.
Psychobilly is often characterized by lyrical references to science fiction,
and other topics generally considered taboo,
though often presented in a comedic or tongue-in-cheek fashion.
It is often played with an upright double bass instead of the electric bass
more common in modern rock music.
Psychobilly gained underground popularity in Europe
beginning in the early 1980s, but remained largely unknown
in the United States until the late 1990s.
Since then the advent of several notable psychobilly
bands has led to its mainstream popularity
and attracted international attention to the genre.
In the mid- to late 1970s, as punk rock became popular,
several rockabilly and garage rock
bands appeared who would influence
the development of psychobilly.
The term "psychobilly" was first used in the lyrics

It means tattooes, red lippies, piercings, bandanas,
and heavy eyeliners.

If now is the era of modern sparkly vampires,
Psychobilly's the era of zombies.

COOOOOL!! Isn't it?

If you put Glam Rock, Glam Punk, Glam Goth
altogether, they look similar to each other.
So is Rockabilly, Pin Up, Burlesque and Psychobilly.
Black is the dominant color, which I love.
It's my favorite color, Red is second.
Most of the colors of my shirt were black.
I also love tattoos, graffiti and skulls and studded things.
Honestly, I didn't know my taste and my style,
until I did some research and I'm learning a lot
while blogging it. Now I feel so happy. ^_^
Other influences:

KAT VON D
As you all know I'm dying to get a tat.
That's why I go to tattoo expos but unfortunately
mom will definitely kill me if I get one.

 I remember way back in 2007 ,
I posted it in my old social networking site
yay for being young and immature!!!

bf bought me a midriff type leather top as a gift,
then I don't know when and where should I wear it.

I even dig the misfits logo

But then I realized my fetish for clothes and fashion is strange.
Not appropriate and simply insane, therefore, it should vanish!!

After 2 years (2009) a group of awesome Korean girl band debuted.

 They're called 2NE1
Donning these clothes, they pulled them off perfectly,
which reminds me of the good ol' days

They made my realize that nothing is weird or strange.
I'm now a big fan!!!

My favorite member who got so much swag
is none other than the baddest (as they call it) female CL

2ne1's stylist are G-Dragon's friend, and
most of their outfits are from Jeremy Scott and Alexander Mcqueen.

My favorite Makeup Artist has also influenced me a lot
with her preference, colorful makeup and fashion sense.
Her name is Jody.

A decade ago, style and fashion DOES matter. People will criticize you, people will make fun of you. Now, look at Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj and more eccentric styled artists. They don't care about the world, and that is the best attitude of all.

I should quote the late Alexander Mcqueen:

"It's a new era in fashion - there are no rules.
It's all about the individual and personal style,
wearing high end, low end, classic labels,
and up-and-coming designers altogether."
